National governing body: The organization responsible for administering a competitive sport within a given nation. For figure skating in the United States this is the United States Figure Skating Association. In Canada it is Skate Canada, formerly known as the Canadian Figure Skating Association.

Non-basic spin position:  A spin where the skater is not in a camel, sit or upright position.  Examples of non-basic positions include an upright-like position where the knee of the skating leg is significantly bent, or a sit-like position where the knee of the skating leg is not sufficiently bent to meet the requirements for a sit position.

Normal rotation jump: A jump in which the angular momentum associated with the skater's takeoff edge is in the same sense (clockwise or counter-clockwise) as the angular momentum of the skater's rotation in the air.  That is, the motion on the entry edge to the jump and the rotation of the jump in the air have the same clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.

The opposite of this is a counter rotation jump.
